Title: Petrol to Derv....
Post by: JamieGTi on 18 February 2009, 15:07
I've provisonally sold my mk4 and next I think i'm looking into getting... another mk4

I've spotted this on pistonheads and its far from standard tuning wise.

its a 130pd gt tdi with a hybrid turbo

251bhp
380 n/m torque
45+ mpg
£62 a year tax

I don't want to show many images of the car but I tihnk this is going to be an absolute weapon and worth going from petrol to diesel.

What you guys think?

well it ain't £62 a year to tax for starters - its £120

as Tim said you want to ask who has done the work, conversion, what uprated clutch is fitted etc etc

You also want to check its driveable. It's ok haing high power but if you can't get it onto the road it's no good.

It has new top and bottom mounts, drop links and bottom arms. Front subframe bushes are nylatron replacements. A/C has just been regased and the car has just had a new sintered paddle clutch fitted.

Recently dynod on a Dyno Dynamics it gave 241 BHP/380lbs ft of torque, it gave 251 BHP on another dyno – Graphs to prove.

The power and drivability comes from the hard work and research that has gone into the cars mapping and set up which has taken 3 years to fine tune.

Yeah seems dodgy I must admit, what would you guys recommend? Taking down an expert? Running it on vag com before buying it?

I'll give the guy an e-mail and ask if he would mind me doing those and also a drive of it before purchase.

any modded car looses value, would defo recommend getting someone who can have a good look over it even if you stump up for a rac/aa check

yep i know that my evo was £34,000(with the ralliart extras) and i spent £16,000 on it(AP Racing brakes, new intercooler,de cat exhaust, Work Meister wheels, 2k stereo system etc......) and sold it for £19,000  (chassis was slightly twisted(after sum silly bint pulled a u-turn on a dual carriage way) and wanted to tune it up more but was advised to get rid )

It just seems a bit excessive on a tdi(on top of the cost of the car)
