Title: UK vs Euro
Post by: Roverdose on 18 February 2009, 14:39
Am i the only one who's getting sick of color coded split rims and perfect finnishes? I've nearly finished what was suposed to be a euro jetta and at the last minute i went 90's uk styleeeee with it and i must say it looks pretty "phat"

Can anyone else see the old skool 90's uk look coming back? I remember the days of 17's and sunstrips that covered half the window, loudest exhausts known to man and when people actually drove their cars in the wet!

or

id also like to add if we keep smoothing bays and removing stuff then all the dubs left will be resigned to the garage instead of the road!

what do u think?

my car is to drive not to show. Im more of the 90s look as you said than the smoothed bays and glossy paint. At the end of the day you wouldnt wana take out for a midnight blast a smoothed out golf with an impecable chrome engine and expensive paintjob, i rather take out a golf with polybushed suspension decent engine and so old tyres

Yer, it might be different if I had put the work into it myself :lipsrsealed: and I can't find a second car I like yet!

Edition38 would have seen so much flame it would be unbelievable

I see what you mean. My engine is nothing special and as long as you look after the paint and service it properly then there is no reason it wont carry on going and looking good!

Personally I don't see the point of chrome engines. I like the smoothed bay look but its a bit pointless as it would just get oily and messed up straight away. Rather have a 20vt (cant go wrong with looks then, its all plastic) than a chrome 16v or something!

I could see that going don't like a lead balloon on there!!

And although i dont use mine daily it dosen't have a garage to sit in and lives outside in all weathers... I ain't got no O.C.D like some

Twisty A roads FTW! to me a VW has always been a trusty old (slightly knackered) labradoor, not a crufts winning poodle, i just wanna see more on the road! gotta get some pics up of my jetta, tornado red mk2 on 17'' gunmetal 5 spokes and by 2morrow a proper 90's sunstrip!

ive heard its nearly imposible to drive a smooth engine bay car as the filer will crack!

If so, you can stick your 'euro' where the sun don't shine, I'm not one to follow all the other sheep!
I do what I wanna do, I do what I think looks nice, I have my own ideas and if people don't like it then tough :lipsrsealed:

Bring back the '80's for me.
Mine is no show car and I drive it whenever I am home. Its not a Sunday drive out car at all. That being said though, it does live in a garage, but that is only because of what it is. There will always be some pikey b@stard who will want to run a key down it or nick the emblems or wheel centre caps off it just because its a G60!

Fashion innit. People do stuff to be 'different', it becomes popular, some people move on to the next way to stand out. Being an old bast&rd in VW land, it's funny to see some of it coming round again. People talking about putting 17's on a mk2 as kerrrraaazeeeee - ha!

Now as I have said for a few years now, where is my Mykoo Motorsport rear wing?!

Post by: Roverdose on 18 February 2009, 22:21
no matter what tho the 90's were rockin! to me it was the hayday! when every car park in britain was fully busy and the summer was one long party! im still i die hard cruiser and ive noticed that the turnover of noobs each year get dumber and dumber! they also have less enthusiasm! they only go out cruisin in their standard corsa so they can be seen with people who actually care for their cars and take their time! cool by association! lol!

this year could be awesome if there was just a bit more enthusiasm...and if i actually had a dub that works properly

Same as, I'll have to try and dig out some pics of my first MKII after I had finished it. Mind you I was running 15's back then anyway as I went to AMD (back in the day when they were up in oxford way) and the guys there set it up with Koni adjustables Eibach springs and told me if I enjoyed driving don't go bigger than 15's. I followed their advice and the thing stuck to the road like sh!t to a blanket.

I love the euro dubs but I have to agree with the engine bay madness, nice if they want to do but I could never have an engine bay that perfect and actually use it. As for the outside, sure why not.

not to piss on your fireworks but 3 spokes are man made so i would define them more as a crime against engineering rather than nature

i have an open mind when it comes to 3 spokes, ive seen some shockers like the old skool tsw 3 spokes but some are pretty sweet!
