While my car was having the wheel bearings done the mechanic said ill need discs and pads at some point and that the backs will need doing first so was thinking drilled /grooved for the rears and some decent pads. No sure what to go for? Any ideas?
And the fronts I dont wanna spend mega money on Brembos or AP at the moment max of about £350 for the fronts any ideas what to do and go for?

I wouldn't really spend the extra on discs, TBH - Pad money is where it's at, IMO.
EBC do some plain discs, now, & along with their red/yellow stuff pads, make a great combo at a reasonable price.
Cheapest I found a few months ago, was from here >>> www.buypartsby.co.uk :afro:

Top man cheers Ivor? Would you not bother putting drilled ones on then? Or go 312mm discs?

No, they'll wear your pads out more quickly. Like I've said, many a time, your better off spending the money on decent pads instead. ;)
312's do stop you better than the 288's, no doubt, but they just upset the balance of the car under HARD braking with 232's at the rear, IMO. (Nothing dangerous or anything you can't live with everyday, just too much of a difference between the two when driving on the edge, for my liking).
If you've got the extra ~£100 to throw at the 312 carriers, then go for it! :afro:

I'm running red stuff pads and 312mm disks. I and can feel the stopping power over the standard set up that was on the car when I bought it. It's a good cheap upgrade.

If you want quality discs and pads, but a low price, this eBay seller is perfect, they sell Mintex. I've used them, and can't complain :)

Ive got the 312mm conversion, its loads better! Cant say ive noticed anything about it affecting the balance under hard breaking, surely this could be said about any car with upgraded front brakes?
-
Gonna go for 312mm discs and carriers cant see much point in just putting standard size brakes on may aswell go bigger with decent pads as Ivor said.

Let me know how you get on sourcing the calliper carriers.
