After several weeks of hunting finally picked up the wifes new car.
'07 Ed30, 3dr manual in steel grey.
bits include.......
priveee glass
Centre armrest
ipod prep in the above
& xenons
have since found & not sure if extras............
tyre monitor thingy
folding mirrors
puddle lights
Other than 2 stone chips on the bonnet, its like new.
The wheels are un-marked & the spare has never been out. Boot looks like it has had nothing put in it.
Wifey is over the moon with it & after 70 odd miles this afternoon getting it home, I can now see what all the fuss is about.....its an awesome little car which we will enjoy having in the garage for many years to come, that I am sure.
Some guidance on the ipod useage would be appreciated (yes I know i should RTFI).
Is there any other bits or gadgets I should look out for which I may be missing/not found yet?
Weather permitting major detail next weekend wheels off, clay everthing & the full Megs G220 workout on the paintwork.
In the coming weeks, I am hoping to add cruise, p/sensors (lov or hate em...I like em) phone prep & poss h/line and mfsw.
Alot to add, but finding the right spec has been very hard......at the right dosh of course.

Make sure you have the double ended bottle opener which sits in the centre cupholder - these often go walkies.
Make sure you pump up the tyres to the correct pressure, then set the TPMS - and then don't press that button again.
Also make sure your pram wheel (space-saver spare ) in the boot is pumped upto at least 61psi. They go flat, and the stealers never check them.
Finally, double check on what servicing regime you are on. If you are on LongLife, then change it to T&D.
In the coming weeks, I am hoping to add cruise, p/sensors (lov or hate em...I like em) phone prep & poss h/line and mfsw.
Cruise is good, parking sensors are good. I don't know if the OEM phone prep is any good - a parrot would probably be better.
Highline comp would be a real barsteward - basically a new dash panel insert, then a trip to the stealer on the back of a flatbed to get the new cluster recoded for the immobiliser.
MFSW are nice, but their functions are quite limited. If you dont have the factory phone prep, then the MFSW is a very expensive option for its limited functions.
Instead, save your money - forget the highline and MFSW, invest in VAG-COM, and also get the WALK and Whiteline adjustable ARBs.

Here is a very good list of all the little tricks your new GTi can perform. Be warned, it'll have you playing for days

Good choice, and the best colour too!#

I have just changed the brakes over the weekend, went for a full S3 set up, front and rear. The std set up never inspired me.
Have fun, and get cruise fitted.
-
Anyone know how much cruise is retro-fitted?
-
The Dealer will do it for around £150.

Nice choice mate and hope you enjoy (even if it is the wife's run around LOL).
Puddle lights and folding mirrors are both options, tyre pressure monitor is standard by the way..
-
Congrats  Hope you enjoy it
-
cheers chaps...
managed to prise it off the wife today for the first time and its one hell of a car.
We both are over the moon with it & am pleased we went down the Ed30 route.
Yes indeed the bottle opener has gone walkies. Is the Ed30 one any different to the norn GTI? I guess I can order one from the dealers.
ta again for comments all

It took me 3 months of hunting, but well worth the wait.
Everyone says, keep hunting till you find the car & spec that you REALLY want & that was so true.
Having said that, cruise, sissy sensors & highline being fitted in the next week or so, but colour, 3drs & Xenons were a must have.
Good luck ifti in your search

Looks awesome  Love steel grey
-
Cheers chaps,
Xenons and light they through is amazing.
We were in the early days considering either Black or White, but I clocked a 3dr grey on the road & it was a must have.
I think I might find an excuse to prize the keys away & go for a drive.

Very, very nice! How many owners has it had if you don't mind me asking?
(currently looking to buy an ed 30 myself and need something to aim for)
Cheers!
-
Saw an ED30 very similar to this, but 5 door with 4500 miles - 08 plate - he was asking £22,500!!

There are quite a few sellers in denial/on acid at the moment, all the stuff that's priced correctly is selling though
-
When I questioned him, he got back to me stating his dealer had offerred him £19,500 for it already!!!

Cool, really nice looking ed 30 you have there. Is it on a 56 or 07 plate and was it from a dealer or private? (The reason being I'm now £125 away from a deal on one myself and don't want to pay over the odds, it is from a dealer though)
Cheers

It was registered on 29th march '07 (07) & I came from an independent dealer.
Managed to prise the keys of the wife again this morning & its just a great car.

Sorry Andy no.
Went into the dealers Wednesday & have ordered in cruise (£150 s&f) & factory fit parking sensors (colour coded supplied & fitted £230)
So decidered I had spent enough.
My main reason for wanting h/line was on was wanting an OEM bluetooth kit, but I may just head down the parrot route.
ta
-
TBH, I wouldnt want to head down the parrot route. I want to ensure the car has highline and a MFSW, so that I can have the OEM bluetooth installed, if it doesnt come with it - when I finally get my ED30 that is! I think its a much neater and smarter option, although probably more expensive as well!

Agreed & agreed mate.
I have a parrot kit in my A4 which is hid in the ashtray out of site. I also had the parrot kit to liven up the mfsw controls. It all works very well with voice dialing through 3 different Crackberry's, mute's radio & plays through speakers.
All voice dialing & volume control is done with the sterring wheel controls.
But yes, like you I am not a fan of having them mounted on the dash.
If the Ed30 was my wheels I would defo have the biz fitted, but wife says mfsw is not a nesses & she would be appy with a parrot kit under the ashtray flap.
You know how much mine took to hunt down & finding one to tick all the boxes is real hard, for the right money of course.
Among the extras on mine the 2 options that sold the car to me were xenons & factory pivveee glass which are expensive options to add.
Perhaps I will see what mfsw, h/line & OEM b/tooth will be. Even at £600 it makes the car still a pretty good buy.
Happy hunting bud
Paul

OK mate no probs...
I just think its gonna be kinda expensive!!!!
Andy
-
I would defo go for the MFSW, H/line and Bluetooth TBH - just for the convenience and neatness etc - but as you said, its only for the wife ;)
I'll want them on my GTI, along with Xenons, arm rest, and the lux pack.
All the above would be my perfect match ;)
Is the Arm Rest standard on the ED30's by the way, or is it still an optional extra?
-
im sure its optional.
-
yes optional it is
