Title: Power Steering Reservoir

Does anyone know what rules apply to the location of the reservoir??  I need to move mine somewhere and I need to know if it needs to be above/level with the pump or rack etc.. Cheers

nothing really, just needs to not leak :grin:
if you're looking to move it off the chassis leg a nice factory optiuon is to use the reservoir, bracket, pipe & T piece from a later Corrado.  On those the reservoir is located behind the battery and on a MK2 the studs to mount it are there :)

Ahh cool cheers.  The studs to mount it were there... but I lopped them off!  Looking for a funky place for it now.

The tank should be quite high in the system as this is where all the air bubbles end up when you bleed it, but you could just lift it up and hang it high up for bleeding then put it back when done :)
The corrado one is a fair bit higher than the pump or rack, and you would struggle to mount it lower than the factory location I'd imagine.  The MK3 reservoir might be worth looking into, its kinda mounted in front of the battery tray.

legend doing this on my Golf g60 (Rado engine) and i need to bin the square gti bottle and get the circle Corrado G60 one. just 2 questions from me.
1. is it just the g60 engine'd ones or do all the Rado use the circle on behind the battery.
2. do i also need the Rado washer fluid bottle?

not sure, i thought it might have been an early/late thing, but as you say ,may be a g60 thing, plus vr too possibly?
washer bottle shouldnt need changing, iirc it should fit nice in front.  plus i think the rado bottle is same as golfy anyway?

I have seen one hidden in the rain tray before... not sure what bottle was used though and where the lines ran.  Going to have a fiddle tonight I reckon. Ben

thats the corrado setup, good to know it can be found in SEAT as well, easier to find in scrappies!

ive got a 90 spec (originally) 8v gti and its definatly square and i definatly need a circular one now. from the picture im going to need the pipe work across the chassis leg and then must just be a plastic T-piece to join the pipe work to.

let the hunt begin.

Found a home for the original bottle, going to run the lines to it and see if its usable.  Just need to weld a piece on to make the loop a touch bigger.
