Hi,
I've got a VWG Golf Gti Turbo 1.8 Y reg, which for the majority of the time is a fantastic car. Occasionally though, if I don't leave the car for long between journeys (I.e, I go to the shops, spend ten minuted in there, and then go home) my car will cut out on my when I'm reversing or going slow/ stopping. Of course, this has been a bit hair raising at some points as it's happened when slowing down around corners (although not if I'm going a bit faster and in 3rd gear or higher) and the power steering cuts out. This can happen a lot unless I get to a straight road and get to roughly 4000 revs in first and then again in second, at which point it stops cutting out on me. Also, if I can't get up to some speed, the engine revs itself, even when I'm not touching the accelerator. I've been to the garage for this, and they said it was just something over-heating and the sprayed something in a pipe, which seemed to work until the next day. Does anybody have a clue what this might be? As I'd like to get it sorted. Any help will be VERY much appreciated. Thanks

i don`t know what it could be but try and find a garage/person in your area who has vagcom so they can see if it comes up with any fault codes, or look/ask in the mk4 section as you`ll probably get an answer in there
