Nice clean cab, I had one just like that 3 three ago, never let me down and always turned heads when driving... :)
-
as you all have cabs, what size wheels do you have on your cars? I want to understand what I can get away with without doing any work on the arches.
-
Mine are 15 and standard but if you were lowering and putting new wheels on I think that 16s would be your max without doing any work on the arches. IMO 15 and lowered would be sweet enough though :)
-
anything more than 15 and I will have arms likes Arne..... :D No power steering, but I am really considering it from TSR...
-
Nice cab.....they OZ polaris wheels ??
-
No power steering, but I am really considering it from TSR...
Don't they charge about 1200 sheets to do power steering ? I only think it needs power steering when you are parking in a tight spot, other than that I cannot justify spending the coin on it really. ???
-
I have 14x8 with 195/45/14s on the front and 14x9 with 215/40/14s on the rear, The car is "slightly" lowered on FK coilovers, and the only problems I have, other than speed bumps, is the rear tyre clip the rear arch lip under heavy loads or big bumps in the road.
-
I know power steering is alot, considering I didn't even pay over ?800 for the car, but in the end I think it will be worth it....?!!. Might even be able to some day put 17 inch wheels on the car..... I WISH..!!! ;D my arms hurt just thinking about that...
-
Nice cab.....they OZ polaris wheels ??
yeah i think they are, they were on my car when i baught it, plann to change them eventually, dont know what for though at the moment.
the steering is heavy but i dont think its heavy enough to spend ?1200 on power steering :o
-
Mine have 17" lenzos on-i just dont park! ;D
Have got sum lowerin springs to go on wot i bought off ads-will c then if i need to change em!
N yeah me arms did hurt wen i first bought her but now im just used to it!,n im a girl! ;D
Dinx :-*

If any girl can drive a golf with 17" wheels with no power steering then I must have 18" wheels on mine cab then. It might mean the car stays in the drive way though....!!! hehe ;)
I'll go and try out 15, 16 & 17 rims on the car over the next few weeks and I'll report back to all on my findings and I'll take pic's...
Managed to get pics of the Mk1 up on gallery if anyone is interested...? it's very standard at the moment but not for long..
-

there is some very nice cars on here, well done everyone ;D
has anyone got pics or ever seen completely smooth boot?? (as in plate welded over number plate recess) does it look good or not???
-
Cheers fpr the nice comments Stubbsy.
I have seen a cab with the boot lid smoothed right out, and to be honest it really didnt float my boat. It just looked like there was too much blank space at the back, almost a bit, dare I say it, Nova-ish!!
-
;D I have to say I am so what jealous of the later model MK1 Cabs you all own, they are really nice. Might have to buy a later model cab as well...
dont be fooled by the classy looking newer cabs. they've got it easy. early cabs will always be the best in my book, much harder to get a quality one ;)
danny allens yellow cab had a flushed boot ill try and get a pic for u :D
got his sig pic :-\

Thought I'd just join in on the cab thread 8)
Hey madone, looked at your pics and it looks like you've done a quality job on that new hood. The hood looks just like mine but cleaner and newer and I'm getting jealous now ;D
-
I wouldnt have big wheels on a mk1. I had the 15"s that are now on my golf on mine, they looked fookin lush 8)
-
thanks Giddy, it look most of the afternoon to do, when there is only one person doing it. Does anyone know a really good car sprayer, I want to get the car completely repainted over the winter period...
I also had a look at some of the later cabs last ngt and this morning, I have to say I think I will focus on the old MK1 first and then get a cab in the winter period, save on money...
Did see a rather nice cab like Adam's - standard though, in the autotrader or ?2500 but it had gone already.. shame.. :(
-
lol @ madone, it's gibby, not giddy ! ;D It made me chuckle ;D
I don't really know of a good sprayer and it depends where you are, but if memory serves me right I think that tophuh's brother in law is a sprayer and I think S11EPS's mate is one too. Tophuh is around tamworth area and S11EPS is in Cambridge I think. They don't normally hang around in the mk1 section they are normally in the chats and mk4 sections, but you can PM them I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Good luck. :)
-
sorry on the name, still half asleep today.... hehe ;D god I am too funny without even knowing it...!!
thanks for the info, I'll contact the guys.
-
No problem, and if you ever do look for one of the later cabs I'd recommend either a Sportline or a Rivage and this, IMO, is dependent on what you want to do to it because I think that sportlines look good modded but think that Rivage mods need to be more subtle. If you went for a Rivage look for one with leather seats by the way. :)

thanks for the advice...
