Title: central locking pump continuosly on
Post by: oakgreengolf on 15 February 2009, 10:42
The car is fitted with a toad alarm, which is getting on a bit now fitted in 98  :undecided:. Problem started last week when the central locking pump started going mad when i locked the car with the fob. The doors kept opening and closing until the pump died. I tryed another pump and this is just coming on when plugged in. So I presume its getting a constant 12v signal. Where abouts does the pump get the signal from?

This is the only door that opens now with my fob if that makes and sense. Does the pump get the signal from the actuator?

you will probably find that a 2 wire aftermarket central locking motor has been fitted as this is needed for the alarm to lock the doors
this when activated pulls the door pin down and locks the door which in turn activates the microswitch in the factory fitted vacuum pump in the drivers door and sends a 12v+ signal to the central lockiong pump in the boot
if itv is constantly running then generally this indicates a vacuum leak
