Title: How do spacers affect handling?

I've been reading a lot about stance and it seems a lot of people use spacers to make the rear wheels stick out wider. I'm wondering how this would affect handling? Would the rear wheels being out wider than the front adversely affect turning? I always thought it was a good idea to keep the front and back around the same width, but is this wrong?

From what i hear they are not the best mod to be using if your concerned about handling. I believe their alright for looks but not for actual driving. I would not use them on my car the way i go round corners! :smiley:

it is in effect lowering the offset of your wheels, so have a read about that as well.  I have mega low offset ET13s on mine, and it handles fine to me, but I'm not a pro racer and I dont do track days either so I'm not the best person to ask.  Theres a fair bit of discussion on this over on clubgti, quite a few suspension geometry experts on there!  If you want to get the wheel further out without effecting the suspension geometry, look into doing a widetrack conversion on it :)
