hi all, the track car is having a cage fitted next week but before i do it i need to remove the headlining (easy enough) and the sunroof which should also be fairly straight forward. what i am unsure about is removing the double skin bulge bit where the sunroof retracts into (does that make sense)ie the netalwork in the roof behind the hole in the roof.
anyone had any experience of this?
also i need to make up some plates for the cage to fit to - does anyone know how big and how thick these need to be?
cheers y'all

Surely leave the bracing etc in the roof?
Footplates - ask on CGTI - more people with caged car on there...

removing the double skin is a no no its there for a reason to give the car strength thro the roof panel, i no u would be strengthing with the cage but i seriously be against removing the double skin!
from the last week of seeing all the recoveries into the yard at work (accident repair centre) DONT DO IT !

I'm guessing you mean the sunroof cage?
I had to remove most of it to install my cage - I cut it down the middle with an angle grinder then cut through each of the mountings. Don't forget to cover all your glass 1st or you will get grinder sparks inbedded in it.
When I did it I found someone had posted some picks up either on here/cgti?
You can pop over and have a look at mine if you want? (just give me a ring 1st, you know my number)
