i start the car and it runs for about 5 secons then cuts out and do i need the idle speed control valve or can i blanck it off?
-
disconnect the plug from the main pump under the car, turn the key 1 click. do you hear the lifter pump prime?
ideally you should keep the isv, you wont gain anything by blanking it off. Go back and check all your timing marks, if they're all at tdc then it should be close enough to run, does the car run if you hold the revs up or does it still cut out?
Check all your vacuum hoses are hooked up, and make sure your breather pips are all ok and not split, same with the big rubber boot to the inlet. are you sure the inlet manifold bolts are all tight as well
Did you change anything while the engine was in pices like the AFM or ISV? leads?
-
yeah checked all that and fule rail pressure is fine

There's not some sort of BS immobiliser on the car, is there?
ECU getting a good solid 12V?
-
ok, next time the car cuts out listen for the fuel pump. You should hear it run for a couple of seconds, if not then something is causing the pumps to cut off, possibly an immobilisor as DH says, or perhaps your relay has had it.

nope sorted the problem the hall sensor was iffy changed the dizzy and now the car runs sweet i put it on the road today and drove it for the first time the way it handels is a bit sh!t compared to my xr2 but the the power more than makes up for it
