just out of boredom, i have decided i would love to replace my standard gear box with a quick shift system. is this possible, anyone ever done this and what sort of cost do you think we would be talking???

im assuming you have a mk2 they are about ?25 and reduce gear throw between 30-70% depending on your setting

you serious... only 25 quid. yeah i have an old 86 mk2.... well i'll have it back from the garage sometime today hopefully... whoever invented curbs on motorways should be shot to sh!t

we are talking about those nifty little rally car type gear shifter... up, down only arent we..  don't know what they are called

You mean sequential gear shifting...

Thats a whole different thing!!

Short shifts are east to get and cheap... They just change the pivot point of the gear stick, meaning each gear change is shorter to do.

yeah that's it mate.. any ideas if its even possible... thought #25 was cheap!!!!!!
