Title: Suspension question...
Post by: twistedblack69 on 10 February 2009, 14:30
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that you can put springs for anything up to a 40mm drop on standard shocks, but anything more than that you'll need aftermarket shocks. Anyway...I have aftermarket shocks and pretty much max'd out drop, but I'm looking to raise it, so will I be able to put any suspension on it?? I'm thinking of going either 60mm front and 40mm rear, or 40mm front and 20mm rear (as far as I know it's an 80mm drop at the mo), so will I need new springs and shocks for this, or just springs??

i think your shocks ar made to handle anysort of drop from lower springs so they should be fine. just get some new springs and see how it goes if the ride is pants then new shocks are needed.

Kool, cheers man, was thinking that. Gonna get some coilovers when I got some money, but I got other things to spend the money on first, so looking at swapping with a guy locally for his springs for now

lo m8 id go for a 40mm drop at the rear and 60 up front 'well i was going to ...... id go for new shocks all round to the shocks on there are buggered id say which wont help aswell as the tracking and camber..

you can buy kits online etc but sperate front and rear kits come in a little bit more expensive depending on height..

a cheap set of shocks and springs will cost around £170 id say or even cheaper.

cheap coilover kits are as little as £259 these days and ajustable to...

save ya pennys i recon and go for coil'ys....as low or as high as you like then.

Yea seen the hottuning thread, prob will get coilovers at some point, just looking for a quick fix at the mo. Put up a swap thread in the classifieds section, if anyone could help, have a gander  :nerd: :nerd:

Dave, that's exactly what I was thinking, 60mm front and 40mm rear
