Title: Best HT leads

following on from some wet weather stalling / not starting issues i think its new leads time.

So what does anyone recommend, may aswell just do this once  :wink:

I got mine from a scrapyard :embarassed: Never given much concern to them, high performance HT leads go down with Ecotek valves in my book.

However, ECP sell Beru leads which are reccomended, most folk use those blue ones - can't remember the name though.

Decent HT leads can save you a real headache. Old HT leads can become porous and hold water. Water is conductive and will direct your spark away from where it should go.
Buy OEM from VW and you will not go wrong. If not, then decent after market ones like Splitfire are the way to go. Make sure though that they are suppressed. If a finicky MOT tester trying to make a name for himself sees non suppressed items, he will fail the car. (Although this is more likely to happen with kitcars during their SVA test.)

Got a set from GSF few weeks back, with dizzy cap and rotor arm..
They all came in Beru boxes but the HT leads were in a plain box iirc, dude behind the counter sed they were beru  :huh:
Anyway, they seem to be doing the job so cant complain  :smiley:
Cap and rotor arm this weekend as i still have the misfire..

Beru only ever come in branded boxes. I've never seen any beru stuff in anything but branded!!? And besides Beru= OE anyrate so always worth it.

VWspares do beru ones, great quality I had a set on my MK2 for ages no problems.

i also got a set from gsf lately, but it was a nice Bremy one.
it even came oiled :smiley:.
they told me they don't stock Beru.
in my country oem sets from vw agents are also Bremy, buy they cost 4 times more.

I looked at this a while back and your basically looking at £100+ for top of range leads like Magnecor (16v leads are twice the price of 8v equivalents). Mine are cheap £30 BBT leads from Euro Car Parts which are fine, but the first set were faulty, which lead to a load of problems.

If it was me, I would go with Beru (although not through VWSpares - he once unfairly refused me a refund on a faulty part the chunt), but if it was for a Mk2 I really liked and was going to keep long-term, e.g. an ABF'd conversion, I'd go with Magnecors for the shizzle.
