Crinkle Cut.

They are, after all about as useful as an ecu chip.

I'd be interested to hear about this too as I'm fitting an ABF into my mk2.

Do they not have a flashable ecu chip thingymajig dooda?

And yes I do have ALL the technical jargon

My  ecu code is 037 906 024 AB if that helps

nope there eprom

most of the ecu's have pn  ending in BE  these are what most of the ebay chips are for, i bought a powerchips eprom ( to suit BE ) out the classifides section just to read and have a look what they did,   cost me £20 posted  if anyone wants it make me an offer.  it's only offset map tho

have other maps for BE  ecu  may get round to testing them at some point tho keep saying that and can't see it happening now,  defo won't be dynotesting them anymore as now have a checksum free ecu so much easyer to change things  so will be useing that from now on

contact the r-tech boys in the remapping section on here..you'll get a proper chip, rather than a non working generic type

they never seemed very keen and din't really want to know tbh,    tho most tuners choulnt really care tho at end of day it's old kit,  more work and people wont spend as much so understandable really.  those that had offerings were just offset maps so thats why looked at doing own.

it's easy enough to do bit tedious without the pros kit but for one off time was cheeper than the kit

toying with the idea of makeing the digifant 3  run throttel bodies.

so far car has been runnign on digifant 3  and megasquirt 2 has been wired up and working.    on std mainifold, TB and injectors  i can convert it to MS or back to digifant in about 30 seconds    (  have the megasquirt connected up to a digifant 3 ecu  connector )

as previous engine was stock there was no real point running the ms  so left the digi 3 box on all the time,   itbs will be arriveign shortly so will probaly spend most of it's time on ms

I like the sound of that. Need to try and get my head round the electrics side of things as reckon that'll be where I fall down when i pull it all to bits  Got couple of manuals as bedtime reading while i wait for my lockup to be finalised.
Slightly off topic question but when you swapped your Seat engine, how'd it effect your insurance?

erm  not really sure tbh,    car got rather more expensive to insure but the enigne wasn't the only thing i changed  didn't have any issue getting quotes for car with the seat motor but what a lot of insurance compnies din't liek was the lack of interior.

my insurance  is £860    fully comp agreed value of 3K   limuted miles to 3000.

nfu quoted me £1200 fully come agreed value 3k  unlimuted miles. 1200 was exactly 50% more than a std golf syncro and they said the poicy was running a 50% load to account for the modifcations compared to a standard one.

but as well as the engine,  the car has 280mm brakes frount,  cabel change gearbox. difrent arbs.  the part none of the compnies like was   ALL soundproofing removed,  carpets removed , rear seats and seatbelts removed.

Hmmmn, not too bad given the mods. I like the idea of stripped out interior but bit loud for a daily. Think I'll be leaving the interior in mine for time being, fancy having a bash at a retrim next year. Considering swapping my hubs etc for the 5x100 off the mk3 so I can use the larger brakes and as I have some tasty 5x100 8x15 rims waiting to go on and I have them sitting there and it's kinda swaying me in that direction.

I like the idea of stripped out interior but bit loud for a daily.

He's lying - the headlining's still in and there's still lots of bitumen on the floor and about the place.  This has a significant sound-deadening effect.  Personally if I didn't have kids and t'other half I'd run my Golf as-is on the road.  Losing the rear seats, belts, carpets and soggy underlay loses a LOT of weight and removes a major source of rot (carpet underlay).  I've still got the stereo in my Syncro (which doesn't have quite as much BHP as Danny's) and a similarly stripped interior and it was pretty comfortable when Danny and I took it from Bristol to Nurburg last may.  I wouldn't hesitate to do it again (although there's quite a lot in the pipeline for these cars in the next few months).

My insurance was well under £500 for the year, with various other drivers on it (not Danny - he's too young).  I am an old git though.

Either it's when you remove all the bitumen sheeting that it gets really noisy, or some people are big ladies when it comes to their cars....

lol. Nah, maybe when I get my heater sorted I'll strip it all out, as the idea appeals, it's just the reality of the daily grind that makes me think for the sake of a few weekends a year I'll keep it as is. But I'm with you on the underlay being a source of rot... I'll have a think about it.

i have nothing for that one yet,   would need an original chip to read,   then chould  modify that  easly as don't think theres checksum to worry about on that one
