Title: MK4 Gti @ 18.
Post by: ryanegg on 09 February 2009, 17:07
Hi, i'm new here, getting rid of my saxo vtr for a golf! Currently I'm with CIS who I have rang up to see about changing my insurance over, but they said they couldnt due to the golf being " High Performance " lol. I was wondering if anybody on here could help me out with a cheap company? I've got a years no claims off my scooter, with another to come off the car in april.

Thanks in advance!

Elephant quoted me about £1900 when i was 20 with 3 years no claims, so give them a try.
When i turned 21 with 3 years no claims i got insured for about £750.

Different company are cheaper for different people. I had my MK4 with kwik fit who where cheapest. I'm currently with Elephant and will be going with Greenlight as of March.

Best advice I can give is to just shop around everywhere.

Bell will insure you cheap, then run away when you crash.

Im now with HIC, and i cant fault them.

Wow. That is a touch high.  HIC quoted me £2289 for the 4mo, 19, 3yrs ncb.  Confused and all that quoted £5k for the mk3 gti 16v this time last year.  Got a quote locally, less than £1k for the 4mo.

Seems to be about an average price I think.

Adrian Flux have just quoted me for my mk4 1.8t £1750. Thats with me just turning 19, 2 years driving experience, 1 ncb, 1 non-fault accident, mods declared: pipercross panel filter, forge 007p, r-tech remap. Also my parents are both on that policy, with my dad having 3 points from an SP30.

try a quote without ur dad and see if it goes down, because mine is with no NCB and 1 accident at my fault and 2 + 4 months years driving experience

Is yours with any mods declared?

If I just had it standard then Admiral quoted me around £1300. Without the non-fault accident it would be £1100.

Had a quote today from Bell, £1350 with all the above details except the remap. Not quite sure what to do now!!

I recently changed my car insurance to Greenlight who specialist in hot hatches and performance cars, especially with mods such as remaps. Its worth getting a quote from them imo. This is going to sound outrageous but I have saved over £800. You dont want to know what I paid last year for my insurance lol.

Thats because she is a woman. To cut a REALLY long story short If I was a woman last year I would have paid £700 less that than I did simply for being a bloke and nothing else.

I can't believe people would pay so much for car insurance. I'd rather drive a Fiesta 1.1 until the price is more reasonable.
