Title: best performance options.... (possible a job for rhyso)
Post by: _Adam_ on 09 February 2009, 12:07
i know there's 1,000,000 topics about this i cn search through but it's always better for me (and easier ) to ask for myself.
i have a mk5 gt tdi - non sport 140bhp. i'm soon getting £1000 and being as dumb as i am im looking to blow most of it on my car. i've asked a few ppl i know and they always say "all you need is a remap for a tdi"
but would i need some sort of custom exhaust with a bigger diameter than standard, do induction kits do anything for diesels and if so how much uglier would the engine noise be?
i jus need some suggestions, with price tags and estimated bhp gains) on what will be the best options for getting my car closer to the 200bhp mark
thanks

Just get a remap and leave the rest in the bank.Or make it handle better. If you wanted 200BHP why didn't you buy a GTi?

Remap from R-Tech and full turbo back exhaust

easy peasy lol

but as Tim says to crack the 200bhp barrier could well require a little more work - i'm not up to speed on the differences between the 140 and 170 TDI's but if its like the 130 / 150 from the MKIV's i would assume the 170 has a larger turbo  :undecided:

oh and then start saving for a new clutch

cheaper to insure, better fuel economy and that distinctive tractor/bus soundtrack!

how much is the remap from r-tech? where is it? lol
will i have a much louder engine tractor-noise from an exhaust or will it improve slightly?
