Salesmen in garages never take me seriously so I'll not be popping into VW Lindale to have a gawp at a Mk6.
Does anyone know if the dash plastic is tough?
The Mk5 plastic is so robust my dogs claws don't mark it, even when she has her nose pressed againt the windsreen. I suspect the Mk6 has touchy feely plastic to give an impression of modern quality, but also suspect it will scratch.

Because I'm an individual. The sales lacky sees a bloke with a dog and muddy boots and thinks he has no dosh. When I went to buy my new XJR I had to visit four Jaguar garages before one would give me the time of day. I bought the car from them.

No, there was a 6 month waiting list. A lovely, fast but relaxing car that averaged 13 mpg.

My XJ before that just fell apart. The Ford bits were much better than the British Leyland bits on that one.

Any dog owners here?

I'm not. But in answer to your original question, the upper plastics on the mk6 are padded and probably won't last very well if abused. The lower plastics however are cheap sh!te like in the mk5. Which is good as they shouldn't suffer the appalling peeling that mk4s were prone to.

In between the Mk5 lower plastic and the soft and cuddly dash top is a 'band' of slightly softer touch plastics which may suffer as Mk4's did (centre console, doors). Although my Mk4 only peeled slightly on the radio volume knob and a careful repair with matt black plastikote sorted that. Dog always rode in the boot, which was carefully lined for protection.

Me me I've a chocolate labrador who travels in expensive luxury in the boot  I bought a VW dog guard at £85 and a brill item called a boot buddy which totally covers the whole boot, back of seats and sides right up to the windows which was £95, not that I mind cos it keeps mud out of the rest of the car, it's just the mucky wellies that I have a problem with.
