Nothing below about £4.3k!
-
these can look awsome
-
I thought they'd be dirt cheap, as they're not exactly stacked with quality of features. Was shocked by the price!
-
Would love a Lupo GTi as a town runner!
-
I was hoping to persuade the mrs to buy one, not at that price though!!
-
do seem a little pricey for what it is..
-
I guess it's because there's not many around?
:undecided:
-
yeah i have a soft spot for these, would love a later one with the 6 speed box but they are rare so are holding there money really well. Future classic me thinks
-
I test drove one when new, back to back with a MINI Cooper. I got the MINI.
The Lupo felt cheaper, didn't go any better and had nasty, wooden brakes.
And it was dearer out of the box.
Interestingly, if you compare to MINIs they've both held their prices very well.
Not that the residual value would make the Lupo drive any better, or the MINI any better built or more reliable.
-
barking lickle car - if the lotto win comes in it would be the shopping car for sure
-
Go for a sport, not in the same class as a GTI I know but much cheaper.
-
the interior looks the same as my sisters polo which is bland and plasticy, shame they didnt come up with something more exciting
-

Still well over 2k most of them though
-
i was considering a polo gti a while back, same engine, a bit bigger and a bit cheaper.
-
Xenons as standard.
I like them, but for the money I'd MUCH rather have a MK4 GTI.
-
If anyone got performance vw today there's a very nice standard-ish lupo gti theyve got featured
-
I've kept my eyes on these for a few years now as my missus likes them and they've always defied gravity in terms of depreciation. Would have a cracking investment when they were about 3 years old compared to most cars.
-
They were less a couple months back when i was looking into getting one.
Think there becoming popular, see a fair few about now, there isnt a huge amount of them around tho, little cars, nippy and cheap to run
Oh and course they are a VW and look good
-
The thing they've got behind them is the weight, even the 1.4's a nippy bugger from what I've experienced in my gf's lupo
-
....
If I had to have a small car I'd defo go for a Lupo GTI and mod it. Pocket Rocket and having used one I can say that they are much roomier than you may imagine.

indeed, anyone see that episode on top gear where they had two on the motorway and clarkson couldnt get over how roomie they were inside and it was very good fuel and great little runner even frequent motorway use
-
I've got one as well as a mk3 16v. And they are easy to live with. Lights are good. And very reliable. I've got a Raceland manifold and a janspeed cat back system and this transformed the power and response . But is still fairly quiet. Its surprised a few bigger cars. :smug: For its size it can carry 4 fairly comfortably but the boot space is it comprimised. Enough for some ICE and a little luggage space.
It definately needs a suspension change from standard. Handles brilliant and is still comfortable with coilovers. The brakes should be 280mm too. Otherwise the ABS likes to cut in all the time when braking on uneven surfaces.
Didn't realise they were still holding their prices tho.
-
I had a look at my mates Lupo GTI the other day and have to say I would have his over my mk3
I did price up how much it would cost for one + making it look good when I got my car but it wasn't worth it. He paid just over £7000 for his, but its one of the ones that was featured in PVW a few months back and has alot of moddifications done to it already

Not even the grey one, the red one & the black one then ?
Hold their values really well and always will. How some one would choose a mini over a Lupo is beyond me. In a Lupo you look cool, in a mini you look like a girl.
