Hello all,
I have a K plate mk 2 and it has a key with a small torch incorporated. for Ford fans this is the same as the Mk 2 Granny.
I noticed that when replacing the battery there was also a chip in the casing, is this an immobiliser type thing. Without a hack saw I will be unable to remove this to test start the car.
I need a spare key and need to know if I buy an AH profile blank will I still be able to start the car with a cut key.
As always your help is very much appreciated.
Regards
Will

mk2's don't have RFID keys as std, if it's had an engine swap there is a possoblity it may have had it added tho.

Thanks.
Rfid key? I have never heard of this before. were torch keys ever fitted to Mk 2 s. I believe the engine to be original. PB Digi.
Best thing to do is probably get a key cut.
Car has a 1998 Clifton 300 Alarm I think. I will need a spare remote for this also.
Does anyone know where I might find one of these.
Regards

torch keys were 16v/G60 only, they had like a pouch with '16v' or 'G60' on it. sounds to me like you have a normal MK3 Golf key, they had torch + chip :)
