Although we stand by the statement that all posts were to be considered fictional and fabricated for entertainment purposes only - in light of recent events a decision was made to pull the thread to protect our members from investigation by certain authorities, who may or may not be of the doughnut eating variety.
No further details available at this time, so please don't ask

To be honest, it's a shame its gone, and will no doubt add to the downfall of this forum.
What happened to my freedom of speech!? Oh, I forgot, this forum does not allow it!
Surely it would be the members' own fault if they post up incriminating evidence of themselves driving like a tw@t. Saying that, I appreciate that the forum does not want to condone such behaviour, or be seen to be promoting such driving.

It is getting a bit like that isn't it... and its a shame as this forum used to be really good. A really good example was a thread of mine that was recently deleted when certain offending posts from it could have instead been cleaned up... very heavy handed moderating. There was a Mk2 thread that was cleaned up in this manner so I'm not sure why the different approach in the Mk5 section
-
It's impossible to keep everyone happy. If you want 'free speech' then you get comments like:
I'm also very disappointed that the mods didn't pick up on this.
If too much is removed:
very heavy handed moderating.
In case it wasn't obvious, the 'what car have you beaten' was removed for very different reasons than normal. It was asked to be removed and was. There are a number of moderators on the forum, none of them will have exactly the same view on what should/shouldn't stay. We don't have time to sit around and discuss each thread in detail, an individual just makes a decision, I might not agree at times but that's how it goes.
-
Why is the thread just not avoided by those who dont wish to read it??
Used to be one of the highlights to come on here and notice a new post in that thread

compared to other forums the moderating on here is very relaxed
i'm not even allowed to post my findings regarding my previous remap on certain forums due to 'legal implications' so make of that what you will

 always 'other forums' to exercise your 'freedom of speech'!

so you moan about freedom of speech yet two seconds later type that you appreciate the forums stance.................

I can definitely see the reasons for why the topic was removed. I just don't think that it was completely necessary.. That's a fair viewpoint to have!
As Illyun has said previously, it could have been cleaned up or something similar.

It was a horrible thread "What car have you beat" and I'm glad it's gone.
Well done the mods.
My Mk2 thread "The one to buy" was cleaned up very nicely by the mods, thanks.

Says he who is called Cookiemonster? What are you, 5 years old?!
What you say is correct yes, and I'm very proud to own it! Likewise would you be if you were interested in Elise ownership, but it sounds as if you are not - which is ok, ETTO as usual! But therefore, there was simply no need for that comment!

I thought this was the "where's the thread gone" thread, but it now looks like it has started all over as the let's all fall out over each other comments thread!!!
Guys, just chill out. It was a very, very, very long thread to try to clean up. It took me nearly an hour to go through it to delete my posts that may have been deemed "inappropriate" by the authorities, so to clean it up would have been a full time job for someone.
There were posts on there which could have been construed as "incriminating" and the mods decided to delete the thread and potentially save the people from being victims of their own posts. Simply saying that the mods are being heavy handed isn't the case, it is more damage limitation for the members. I can't go into details, but I stand by the reason it was deleted and it wasn't ....as some of you may think....censorship.!
