Hello. My name's Chris, this feels like AA!, and I own a MK3 GTI. I brought it today it's a lovely car 98 on a R two owners FSH and in really good condition. I've owned MK1 and Mk2 Sciroccos a couple of Boras and a MK4 GTI. Got this motor as a run around to get me to the station daily and to be able to go to a few local shows in the summer.
I was really suprised how nice the MK3 is to drive, and this one is very tight especially the gearbox. There's no rattles and the 60 mile drive back home today was really good fun. Gave it a quick clean when I got home, and there is a couple of stickers in the windows that need to come out.
I'm going to keep it standard as I'm going to keep it for years and have always wanted to preserve an older GTI.
I've enjoyed looking through the members rides photos and I'll stick these in there as well. These are quick mobile phone photos.

That looks well tidy mate, i had a 3dr mk3 8v once wish i still had it, 5yrs and 60k took it up to 120k when i sold it, all i had to do was a g/box rebuild, (reverse is notorious for being noisy on these)The factory exhaust managed 9yrs and 108k . VW flash red is a great colour when buffed up but doesn't need it so often, i used to back to black the trim an tyres an it always looked fantastic, just like that one of yours
Anyway welcome (although i only joined today myself )

Thanks very much for the welcomes, took her to a 'classic' car gathering this morning and then on a run to a nice pub out near us. It's amazing how even though only eleven years old it feels so different to any newer car. My wife said she really felt like she was in a 'tin box'! It's not so good in the snow though, so will be sticking to our daily drive at the moment!

Small world  I like those alloys they're the early MK3 ones. Do you have the centre caps, as they seem very hard to get hold of.
