Title: Standard Audio Equipment Sizes

Right, I need to upgrade the speakers in my Mark 2 Golf. What size speakers can you install, with or without addaptor plates and where are they located? I don't plan on moddifing my car as I'm limited on time. Cheers.

6x4' in the rear side shelves
3.5" in the the dash locations
5.25" in the door pockets if you have them

And do those sizes just fit straight in? As in, if I bought after-market speakers (JBL, Alpine ect.) they would screw in and wire up no problems?
