-
that mk2 is one hell of a mk2 8)
-
i like hte paint :P
-
I don't like it at all
-
yeah thats nice, would do me if i had the cash!! lol
Gaz 8)
-
Very nice. But it does seem over priced don't you think?
-
?6.5k seems way too expensive!!
You could buy a whole lot more car for that sort of money.
-
;)
true,
supergolfs love jacking up prices :D
does look sweet, but i would prefer a rhd vr6 conversion.
the more i think bout that engine the more i want mine in my dub :D
over a 1.8t and the g60 i think ???
-
But Marcus, a 1.8T engine is farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr more tunable than a VR6 engine! 8)

no its not, its no way near as tunable.
adding forced induction kits turbo or supercharger on a v6 is the way.
you can't be cubes ;)
-
And for all you geezers that are blinkered by the 1.8T engine, have a look at this :-

naw,
they are easier to tune, but i dont think more tuneable.
as homeboy says, strapping a supercharger on the vr6 is gonna give you something meen! >:(
what do you meen 6?
you cant be cubes? ???
-
He means there's no replacement for displacement ;)
-
Don't get me wrong, the 1.8T is relatively cheap to tune to 200bhp+
But the mk4 v6 already produces 204bhp from the factory and has 4 wheel drive, just adding a filter and exhaust will give you about 220bhp+, thats without a chip.
If you got the cash, get a v6 and contact the EIP geezers.
On my mk3 vr6 i can get a bolt on kit for $5000 that will give me 330bhp+
Now ya talking :D
-
By the way the vr6 stage 1 kit is ?2731.15
Thats for 330bhp+ ;)
-
yeh,
ive fallen in love with that vr6 engine after driving one, :-*
torque absolutly everywhere and no nastyu lag like in a turbo
nice 8)
-
It's a good engine. Keep it above 4000rpm and it's loads of fun (for the 16 miles before the petrol runs out ;))
You could even enjoy a VR6 without ever using more than 4,000 rpm.
Sounds great too.
-
stage1 is 277bhp for almost 3k
kind of goes round in circles this ;)
one minute big bhp 20v turbo engines are suggested as being unreliable, next minute it's bolt a big turbo on a vr6
one minute it's lightweight mk2 16v beats everything, next it's put a heavy vr6 in one
:)
-
you dont really need a turbo'd lump in a small car. a supercharger works well on lightweight cars but personally i think 2.0l 16v on twin carbs for mk1 and 2 ;)
eack to their own i suppose, thats why the vw tuning scene is so good ;D
-
yeh,
each to there own man.
vr6 is the most interesting engine that vw have done,
took some balls back in 1992 to put a 2.8 litre engine in a hatchback IMO.
to mate a vr6 with the best golf that vw ever did aka the mk2 is a match made in heaven.
its bollox what people say about vr6 engines bing too heavy for a mk2, as long as your chassis is sorted you will be fine.
its not like your gonna use it on a f**kin track every day is it? ;)
-
New VR6s are aluminium so they are not as heavy. Get one of these in a mk2. That's my advice.
-
you can put in whatever engine you want at the end of the day, but over about 180-200bhp your gonna have traction problems in a small fwd car.
-
Tuning any road spec engine to extreme can result in reliability problems.
With the newer cars, a mk4 v6 is a good buy and very tunable, and also has the benefit of 4 wheel drive.
-
Also to add, using a bigger capacity engine will always be better for tuning, as a bigger engine will always be less stressed than smaller one.
-
::)
r32's are quality
v5's are pants :-\

I read a review of a smart roadster recently (bare with me). The reviewer said it was the best sports car he has driven for years. His opinion was based on the fact that it was fun to drive and you could use every single bit of the cars performance whilst driving on public roads.
I think this is a good point. Is it better to have a standard mk2 golf that you can use to it's full potential and really enjoy or to spend thousands on making it increadibly fast and difficult to drive properly and consequently losing most of the day to day fun of the original car?
Obviously it's all down to what you want from a car and what result you can get from tuning.
-
So a VR6 is the way to go? When I said I like that idea most people said it was to heavy and the G60 was the one to do (Marcus). I then was told the G60 is to old and the 1.8T is the way to go. Now your back to VR6's. Marcus reminds me of that bloke from the Fast Show (he is in the pub and says something and someone disagrees with him so he agrees with that guy and someone disagrees so he then agrees with him and then its back to square one! (http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v291/Martz/smashfreakB.gif) ) ;D
I stick to the idea of a 1.8T and Dizzie should have some input here. Does anyone have a MK2 VR6 in this forum? Would be good to compare the 2 in cost and performance.
I am going to leave mine alone until I have the cash. Maybe get a little rebuild on her so it runs nice again.
-
::)
i used to be indecisive,
but now im not so sure ::) ::) ::)

I wouldn't want one myself but one was behind me on the way back from action earlier this month and I got to agree, it flew. I got to also agree with jte here too, if you are putting new engines in cars etc then you need to look at what you use the car for, if it's a daily driver then it needs to be a practical block so that you can still have the every day fun and be able to enjoy the car, if you are going to bomb it round tracks then vr6 super duper turbo charge the little fekker. IMO ;D
