Thought id do one of these, bought my mk3 in april last year, had a vr6 before, nice engine but economy/performance ratio wasnt on my side. Had an mitsi evo 3 before that so it was a refreshing change to get back into something normal.
Anyway this how it looked first...

I drove it like this for a month then got some D90's, 8j all round x5, complete with 2x25mm and 2x30mm adapters and centre caps, also brand new 195-45-16 tyres. Sorted some collies at the same time
At work with wheels and collies.....

Then i took it home and give it a good wash

My bro and my mate, its a red thing haha!!!!
A couple at a local meet, polished niceley and waiting for the collies to settle.

Left it for a while after re-adjusting the collies and this is how it stands now....

The front bumper is one of my fave bits because its not noticable straight away.
And finally the small arch gap......

Opinions and ideas welcome!
-
Its the February car  Nice
You get it with that tailgate and front bumper?
-
Thought it was time to post up since im slightly famous for a month
Yeah bought the car like that, would give my right arm for a rear wiper sometimes though. I also have a slight front indicator issue aswell.
-
issue being?
-
They are built into the headlights and the holder is a 5w capless fitment. So my front flashers are only 5w. Hmmm somebody wasnt thinking ahead!
-
One of my favourite mk3s on here. Love it

Looking good spunky!
-
Sweet, very nice.
-
love this mk3 ... looks so good
-
Cheers for the comments guys, if anybody has any ideas for improvements then submit them ( and shep, dont you dare mention rear lights and wipers ). I have a few ideas of my own but i have no real imagination
-
dunno if i would have sprayed the spoiler red, would have left it black and had a badged grille with black badge but apart from that its one on the nicest on here! :afro:
-
I do like your motor.....very nice clean and subtle and who needs a rear wiper anyway? Always look to the future not the past
-
I didnt really bother in the summer, but in the last few weeks its been murder.
I did think about another grill, this one was already on when i bought it. I also would like a standard airbox, and rear lights. Its just money at the moment.
gonna polish some bits of the engine soon too!
-
Agree with comment about grill, but black slats would be cool, standard headlights would be good also. Nitpicking really.
-
sweet looking motor. The Design 90's make such a huge difference.
Is that travelodge/inn place where one of your photo's is taken near BAe Salmesbury?
-
Very nice car, didnt even notice the front bumper or rear tailgate until it was mentioned, either very subtle or me being slow
Would definately put a standard grill back on with a black VW badge though.

No mate its at lea gate on the way to blackpool, it was at the nwvag meet.

Im actually going to be on the look out for some standard bits in the next few weeks, a grill, airbox, some mirrors and a bonnet. Still need to sort the indicators out, and seeing as im kinda stuck with the front lights im gonna paint them inside, get rid of some of the chrome.
-
Ah the Lea Gate, I knew I recognised it from somewhere but couldn't think where from.
-
Slightly famous for the month, I like it lol! How low is it man?

Need to sort my cables out and build something to hold it all together but it sounds mint, its got a pioneer ipod adapter also with a 60gb ipod.
-
Not much happened really, wheels are coming off this week for another repaint. A proper one this time, not a quick blow over that lasted all of a month before it was ruined by the winter.

So my golf ownership is at an end. I do miss it, quite alot but im happy with this.
Still going to hang round a bit and share my golf knowledge and experience.
-
Shame dude! I loved it haha
Beemer looks nice!
-
How long before you recover the interior in sheep intestines and fit 22" wooden wagon wheels?
-
...?
-
That's the exact BMW model I'd have gone for mate.
Tartan bonnet looked ace. Wheels... did not.
-
Eveen though red cars aren't really my thing i did quite like this BUT I really don't anymore. Each to their own with outlandish styling but that just looks ridiculous now. Sorry.
-
Bonnet on the Golf looked horrid.
Good choice with the 530d however :afro:

Only just clocked that... 10/10 for balls and being a bit different.
-
haha, made me giggle it did!!
-
 I can feel the love.
Lets be honest though, i modified the car in a way that amused me. Nothing was permanent and all reversable. Proof being i sold it the way it looks in those pictures.
I didnt expect many, if any to appreciate it and the work that went into it because we dont all have the same taste. If i thought like most on here i would be hanging around the "cant decide how much to lower my car by, 30MM or 40MM" threads or deciding which branch of halfords to pick my new wheels up from.
Individuality is for winners.
haha, made me giggle it did!!
It raised a few brows and caused a few gasps in the supermarket car parks.

Cheers mate. Genuine 18" M parallels, 8.5/9.5J. Much nicer than the original 17's
