Title: Alloy wheels
Post by: oakgreengolf on 01 February 2009, 17:53
Having changed over to the 5x100 setup i'm really struggling to find some decent alloys. I have search ebay all week nothing , Unless i want to put my car in maxpower the selection of alloys available is very poor. I like the BBS type but not the mk3 ones. Is there any way i can fit my ronal ls 4X100 onto 5x100. Failing that i'm on the look out for some porsche alloys

Might be worth looking for some Ford Galaxy wheels too, think they're 5x100 with vw centre bore

A say a mk2 at a show with polished 15" Avus rims a few years back.

They were fitted to the early Mk4's. The ones with the wide solid spokes, not the later ones with the slots in them.

what do we think of these then. My ronal Ls's are et25 these are et35. let me get this right this means they won't stick out as far  :undecided:

Higher offset means they don't stick out as far, BUT, doesn't the 5 stud front end result in a wider track?

~10mm either side IIRC

Definitely.  A lot of people use vaseline when replacing them to keep corrosion at bay.

just seen another set on there £250 or best offer with tyres, just wondering if they will scrub. hmmm

They shouldn't scrub provided the tyres are a lowish profile 45 or less and even 50 if 195 may work.

I have a set of the LM's in a four stud that fitedt my 40mm lowered 16v no problem, with 205/45 tyres fitted.

I have ran 195/45/16 and 205/45/16 tyres on 7" and 6" Porsche wheels without any worries, the offsets were 20 and 27mm I think so would be nearer the arches than the BBS LM's

The 8" Porsche rears, 27mm offset I had were a little too close to the rear arches though.

Don't know if thats any help, but I would say you'd be ok.....
