Title: power steering pump leaking fluid - help
Post by: Khare on 01 February 2009, 13:57
guys, last night was driving along and steering became VERY heavy, so pulled over and opened the bonnet and found hydraulic fluid all over the engine and a nice stream flowing down the road. I had a look underneath and its coming from the pulley seal on the steering pump. (steering pump is the one wiht the thin V belt, right at the bottom right?) or is that the water pump? pics of your power steering pump would help.
How much am i looking at for a garage to fix it? cos i dont have the correct tools to remove the pump and rebuild it.

yup, thats what ive been told to do by my dad. Im gonna call them monday and see, but i doubt they will do anything as its a second hand car dealers and I doubt they give warranty. Is there a law where they HAVE to give warranty for 3 months or something?
