Hi Guys,
my mate has asked me to post this so here goes. He was a little enthusiastic with his under bonnet cleaning efforts this weekend. when he was trying to start car it wouldn't catch. We checked spark and all looks good but whilst removing sparks and cranking over engine each bore was loaded with fuel (not full but a fair bit). Any suggestions where to look?
cheers

probably the ECU mate
did the same thing with my GTi about 3 months ago

Check the earth that goes to the gearbox bellhousing, if this is broken, heavily corroded or loose it will fry the ecu which will just keep injecting fuel
As for fixing it you will need to fix that earth, replace the ecu and change the oil and filter
