Just got a 1990 gti cab, the wife will need to use it but will need to put baby seat in. Has anybody had the 3 point system fitted, seen a place in london but i'm in West yorkshire. Any info would be much appreciated.

There's been a few threads about this in this section so try a search as I can't remember the full outcome but I think it's more hassle than it's worth to fit them a there's no real frame (so there's welding to be done) to put the top point of the seatbelt on the back of a cab. Can't the baby seat go in the front ? I used to put my son in the front of mine but that was from about four years old.

I was thinking about putting the seat in the front
Thanks i'll have a search around

Seat in the front seat, as long as it's ok to go in there as per manufacturers specs then it's just the same as any other car. If the front passenger seat has an airbag then you can't put those cradle baby seats in the front, so no need to worry about that it in a mk1.

Thanks

it was offered as an option in america, but even there its very rare. there was a set on ebay but the start price was a few hundred quid!
there was a thread a while ago with a link, I'll see if i can find it. but the jist of it is there are 2 topers that need welding to the car, various bits of trim to cover them plus the actual belts.

 Had same problem got american setup of ebay £150 but has 2 b welded in yet. as said in previous post very hard 2 come by where in west yorkshire r u im in leeds.

I'm in Brighouse at the moment, moving to Bradford this week

Where in Bradford you moving to ? I'm over that side all the time.

Wibsey near Odsal, can you recommend any local garages/specialists, this is my first vw plus i'm not mechanically minded.
-
Not a VW specialist, but I always go to Ladyroyd Garage on Thornton Road (and I now live in Wakefield). Not the cheapest, but they will not rip you off and tell them that Paul with the Camper and the red Rallye Golf recommended you to them. I had a cab for years and they had it running sweet.
I'm not sure about anyone else in Bradford but there's a company called IVC in Leeds (web site here --> http://www.ivcleeds.co.uk/ ) that I've only ever heard good things about.

found it eventually, I did a search for 'cabby 3 point belt' ;)

No problem. If you do go to Ladyroyd, ask for Darren and tell him that Paul Gibson sent you.
