Hey folks
Since going to the meet today, It's really given me the urge to get on the road again :evil:
Anyway, last September I moved away to Uni, and consequently had to leave my 1.6 Driver at home. It's got a car cover over it, but unfortunately it's not under a shelter. It hasn't been started since then, and it wont be until Easter.
What will I need to check before I try and start it up again? Presumably it'll need fresh petrol, but what else should I check?
Since September it's M.O.T has expired, so it'll need to get through that before it goes back on the road.
Lastly, I'm 19 with 0ncb, where would you look for insurance? I was paying £1100 which for a 1.6 at 19 seemed quite a lot to me :undecided:
Anyway, this is more about getting the car starting first time :laugh:

only september :wink:
oil change/mini service and should be fine. check tyre pressures, coolant and the brakes (mainly rears)

Hah seems so long ago though. I'm getting very eager to drive again. Only thing holding me back is funds!

When i was 19 i was paying £1400 for an m reg 1.4 ibiza! There is a lad i work with who payed 2.5k for a 1.0 3cylinder corsa!

Haha I know i wont regret it. The thing that costs is the tax, mot and insurance :cry: Need to get off my ass and find a job at uni :grin:

Just had a think this afternoon. I managed to get a quote of £700 on an 8v GTi.
So I'm planning on selling my Driver as it is, save a few pennies and get a GTi with tax and mot already. Will work out cheaper and it means I get a GTI :D

M reg 1.4 Ibiza for me too! But paid £1250 at 17 instead :p

I had just turned 20 when I bought my 8v GTi and paid £800.
Your best bet is either bell or admiral (Owned by the same company but give you different quotes)
I found these two companies to give the best quotes and i looked EVERYWHERE lol

whan i was 21 and in the RAF i got a NAAFI loan for a sierra cosworth RS500
450 BHP after i fettled with it
was £2500 for a years insurance :shocked: :shocked: sh!t said i and payed it
wish i had looked at the insurance cost before i payed 10k for the car OOPS
was a nice car though :cool: :cool:

just about the insurance i got o yrs no claims bonus...direct line gave me the best quote fully comp on a f reg mk2 gti 8v standard £555...i was shocked at some of the other qoutes i got,hope ya get it back on the road soon
