Hi,
My name's Dan (hence the username! :D)
I'm currently driving an Audi S4 (2.7L biturbo) - in the throws of chopping it for an Mk5 Gti :)
Never had a VW before (a couple of modded Scoobs and some 306 GTi6s)
Looking at the Golf as I tested the new S3 back to back with the Gti, and the Gti was better.
also looking forward to making some new friends on here :)
Bit of background. I'm 35, married with 2 kids. I balance being a Music producer/engineer & writer with running a Music Technology section at a college. Love music, games, technology, Macs and beer :D
See you all around here :)

welcome to the site  you must be mad getting rid of the audi
-
LOL :)
Don't get me wrong - the Audi is a FANTASTIC car. However, it's now 11 years old. It's "only" got 114K on the clock and drives perfectly, but tbh I bought it with a view to using for big loads etc (I've got the Avant) and I don't use it.
The car isn't any more expensive to run than the Scoob, however I want to downsize back to something a bit more fun (in other words the step up to an RS4 or 6 is too much money!!! :D) and the GTi (compared to the S3) is kinda what I'm after.
The V8 S4 is too heavy and expensive to run (I don't mind the expense as long as there's the reward - not enough for me to justify the additional costs IMHO)
I have looked at Focus RSs etc but Wifey also likes the Mk5.
I will probably go back to Audi one day, but it's time to try something else for a while ;)
Dan :D

Middle of the second year. What do you mean by nice kit? a room full of ancient Macs, the only nice bit is the Control 24.
-
LOL - the Control 24's nice :) Shame that ProTools 8 isn't as good as it could be :( Unless you're using it with some proper software ;)
FWIW, you've got more kit (albeit somewhat not quite state-of-the-art!) than a fair few Uni's I've got dealings with!!
Enjoy it while you can mate - unless you're going REALLY specialist or freelance, there's not much out there at the moment :) You're in the best place to ride out the "downturn"!

Indeed. I actually use Logic for nearly everything to be honest. For £120 for Logic Pro you can't go wrong!
I'm actually thinking of going into acoustic design or something to do with acoustics TBH.
-
Hi All,
Yeh TJG, I'm a big Logic user (certified pro). Acoustics is a fantastic area to go in to (ie well paid, and loads of work!) I've done some bits with Recording Architecture. Roger D'Arcy and Nick Whittaker are 2 very cool guys :)
Best of luck :)
