Title: Under tray?
Post by: Lap on 30 January 2009, 14:42
Hi.

I've got a 1990 digi and I'm sick of water being sprayed up inside the engine by the crank/PAS/water pump pulleys. I've found dried muddy water as far as the rocker cover and I try and avoid puddles!

I've done a search and I know that you can get a splash guard that was fitted to the GTD's and the Jetta's but they're getting hard to come by in the scrappers.

I was wondering if anybody has made their own splash guard? Or under tray? It can't be good having all that water being thrown up.

Thanks.

If it needed it, they would have fitted it.

You need a V-belt cover not an engine undertray. The part number is

 191825250A

But they are hard to come by - I managed to get one from a dealer in Harlow Essex even though I live in Bradford . But now you know what the part number is you might have more luck. It cured my problem of the belts throwing muck in a nice line along the inside of the bonnet!

Thanks for that. I'll ring round. Maybe I'll get lucky.

some place on ebay does undertrays for mk2's and all other types of cars, never seen them or know anyone who has them but they 'look' alright, not just a piece of sheet riveted to the bottom of your car

GTD undertray??? I have one of these kicking about mate! Make me a sensible offer. My old man is making me a 5mm alloy sump saver soon, so don't need it.
