Not sure why he's selling so soon but it is nice. Haven't driven one yet as mines stripped out at the mo after buying it.
-
y u fixer it back up?i need a car that will not let me down and i no these are old but can you trust them
-
Mines stripped through choice as changed the interior and 1 of the wings was rotten as mines a 1984 GTI. Think his is used as a daily.

Any old car is going to throw up occasional faults. If you are reasonably handy, that's not a problem, but if you have to pay garage prices it could be expensive. Remember you can always buy more than one for less than a new car, so can afford to have one in reserve!!!

Is anyone else missing the irony of this thread ? As in, you had a mk4 die on you and you're asking about older cars ?
I ran a cab for four years & 40k miles without very little problems. I sold it with 132k on the clock and it's still out there spmehwre I think. Yes there is more chance of having issues than a newer car, but having said that how old was your mk4 and that's died !
There's a nice clipper in the for sale, I'll see if I can find it...........
....found it. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=103996.0
