Bloody carbon fibre badge!!!!!!
I bought the rear badge and didn't send in my core. I said my badge was an Edition 30 one and gave the part number for the badge. When the badge arrived, complete with a new latch mechanism....guess what? It was the wrong badge design!!

This now meant I had to take off the existing latch and replace with the new one. So my car looked like this shortly after.

and now looks like this

I'm going to spray the latch, so it isn't in yet and the car is garaged at the moment
Then again at least it'll stay clean for a while
Anyone want some closer pics of bits, pipe up and I'll oblige whilst the back cover is off

Hi Hurdy,
Could you very briefly run through what you had to do to remove the old one... I have to change mine too..
Did you have to remove/move the wiper motor or was it just a case of whip the lining off and undo the existing boot latch? Don't suppose you know yet if it has any effect on the boot lock electrics and its recognition of your remote key etc
Thanks
Andy

Right then,
The hatch plastic trim has two screws in it which need to be removed first. The screws are located in the handhold recesses. I then removed the two covers for the rear light bulb access to give me a bit more purchase on the boot trim. Pull off the bottom section of the lining first. It will take a bit of persuading but it will come. The plastic trim is held in place by around seven or eight metal clips and two plastic ones. These will pop out first rather than breaking the plastic trim.
Once the trim is off there are three screws holding the latch housing in place. Two of them are easily accessed, but the third is obscured by the wiper motor housing.
I pulled off the plastic cover for the washer jet on the wiper to protect it from damage before attempting to loosen off the wiper housing. The plastic cover for the washer jet simply needs pulling to the left - away from the wiper blade.
Once this was off I removed the electric connector for the wiper and then removed the three washer nuts that held the wiper assembly in place.
After the nuts are removed you can pull down on the motor arrangement and rotate the assembly through around 90 degrees. This will give you access to the last torq screw and then once that is off you can simply disconnect the latch electrically, turn the latch housing to one side and remove it.
Then as they say fitting is the opposite of removal

Excellent, thank you!!
That doesn't sound too bad :undecided:
Once again this outstanding forum comes up trumps!
Looks like I know what i'll be doing this weekend now, I just hope its as straight-forward as your excellent walk through makes it sound!

Managed to get it safely back on again and checked that it works okay. Although the pic looks like the finished article (including the silver backing to the badge, which FTW  ) still haven't fitted the interior trim back on yet. :embarassed:
Oh, and for JerseyAndy - no you don't have to recode the hatch once the latch is plugged back in

Nearest I've got so far. It's snowing a bit now too so the car is tucked up in the garage for a few days
