Post by: maxp on 28 January 2009, 14:31
If i want to replace the backrest section of a drivers seat is it possible and how much faffing is there involved?

Also is it possible to transplant the passenger backrest section to the drivers?

This is for a 5dr gti with ranbow theme

easy and yep no problem. only issue is the backreast angle adjust knob is on the wrong side.

1st off pop off the 2 plastic trims, look close and you'll see 3 pegs, push them thru and the trims come off.  next tilt the backrest forward, you'll see 2 hooks right at the base of the seet release those and tilt the seat.  Then just release the clip on either side that the backrest pivots on, and youre done!

Just be aware pre & post 90 seats are slightly different so make sure the donor seat is the same as whats fitted :)

Sounds encouraging. Are you sure the backrest angle ajust knob cant be swapped to the other side?

I thought it could....the adjustment knob it on a long thin bar that slides all the way through the seat, pretty sure if you just slide the bar through from the other side it'll work....correct me if i'm wrong
