My reverse lights have decided to stay on permanently! The only way to stop this was to remove the bulbs, until I discovered the sender unit on the gearbox. How easy is this to change? I assume that the fault is there! Is this a push in unit or screw? Any info would be great!
Thanks

it depends on your model....... k jetronic then it could be a box thing on top of the gearbox which also does the mfa........
if you have a digifant...... then it sould have a 2 wire sender which as far as i know just screws in.......
if you take the bulbs out as i ddint on my old mk2 i use to have then it wont fail the mot....... reverse lights arnt required! :) i thin the senders arnt much so worth replacing......

The switch on my golf gti 1990 8v cost about ?8 to replace from veedub. Not sure how much it would be if yours is a KJET.

I got the switch from my local VW dealer for my KJET,cost ?37.34 inc. vat.Still got to fit it yet.

just go to your local EuroCarParts or GermanSwedishFrench and they'll be able to sort you out for about ?6
take the old one with you so you can compare it

Reversing lights aren't critical for the MOT, but as anyone who's seen the sides of my (now bendy) garage lately will know, reversing at night without them isn't all that easy! ;D
