Title: ARB
Post by: jonnyturbo on 27 January 2009, 14:15
ok ppl what anti roll bars are you running with. I need a front one as driveshaft rubs arb as its lowered 50mm. So may aswell replace front and get a rear one while i am on lol

Neuspeed
Whiteline
Eibach

to name a few

i'm running the Whiteline Adjustable rear on mine - improves things no end

don't forget that ideally you don't want a thicker roll bar at the front than what you have without fitting one at the rear otherwise you'll INCREASE the understeer

If you're wanting both front and rear i'd say go for the Eibach 25/25mm kit, makes a massive difference and it's really good value for money.

is it advisable to upgrade both the front and rear? or can you just do for example the rear

i've only done the rear - helps REDUCE the understeer which is what you want ideally - give you a more neutral balance

Looks to sit really low do you have clearance issues with speed bumps?

none and that pics was taken before i had it lowered it 30mm

only issue is if i have to park up on the pavement but if i'm careful i avoid scraping it - only done it once

A lot of people just do the rear as that gives the most improvement as the Golf 4 FWD doesn't have one as standard.

A lot of people go for the Eibach over the Whiteline as it attaches directly to the bottom of the shock so doesn't hang nearly as low as the Whiteline. Can't beat the Whiteline for value though.

Rhyso or anyone else that's fitted one, does anything need to be drilled to fit them or are all the holes already there?

nothing needs to be drilled - you use the existing shock bolt (or one maybe provided - can't remember) and push through the droplinks and then tighten up

Dave fitted mine in less than 30 minutes

This is my feeling too.  Although most kits you buy as a set, seem to come with a thicker front ARB than the rear!!

thats what i can never work out  :undecided:  i've spoken to Julian @ Balance Motorsport (very helpful bloke) and he recommended NOT to upgrade my standard front arb and just fit the rear

I'm going to put those upper & lower S3 braces I got from Topher, on, & then source a 25mm rear ARB. (http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e345/ivormk4/Smileys/yes.gif)

28mm might be a tad too harsh??

yeah i've read that 28mm is overkill for road use
