Title: differences betwen pb - g60 manifolds+downpipe

differences betwen pb - g60 manifolds+downpipe

after my bvh was fitted im wanting to get the best flow out of the engine.

the manifolds need to come off again anyway as the gasketts i had to use to get the car going were not port matched to my already ported pb maniofold. i also used a spacer plate due to the taller block thats not matched to the ported pb manifold.

im not wanting to use a 4branch due to the tall block issues. so im thinking is the g60 manifold/downpipe, including gasketts a better flowing design? ie bigger ports and internal diameter?

Paul

manifold might have bigger ports, not sure.  It does have a different part number tho, plus a sniffer pipe on the back.
downpipe is designed to fit a cat, so you'll need a G60 cat-bypass pipe to go with it.  The end of the CAT/bypass pipe ends up at 2.25", so you'll need a reducer or a MK2 16v/G60 exhaust system to fit to it.

im hoping it has bigger ports, and a larger diameter downpipe.then il use a g60 decat to 16v 2.25'' system

I THINK it does, but ive not compared one with a boggo 8v one to know for certain :)

chaps on the dubforce site comfirm YES

hoping this will work out cheap second hand.
did the g60 head have bigger ex ports then? and i tale it the lhd/rhd difference isnt an issue?

I believe the ports were a little larger yeah?  The manifold is the same rhd/lhd, its the downpipe thats different.  Prob much easier to find a RHD Corado G60 being broken than a Golf LHD one anyway!  Thinkin about it a Corrado 9a setup would be pretty similar, maybe even MK3 Golf 2e one?  I've not had the chance to compare all this stuff side by side so I cant say what will and wont work!

Having installed a G60 manifold and downpipe, it's not that free-flowing and if I were to do it again I'd put a tubular manifold-downpipe combo on there - much free-er flowing and more likely to result in gains.

considering the 16mm height difference, can we suggest a manifold that will fit without problems?

I had an ashley 4 branch on my 2e, height wasnt a problem for that.  However the build quality was pretty shocking, and they made it so it was pointing off to the driver side.  So rather than the exhaust hitting the top of the tunnel, it hit the side

i never even offered up!

could have been aye! was a brand new one?  I also had to source a flexi fitting kit for it which was also much fun

yeah that was me   think im looking at the raceland item, with a flexi.all my mounts are new.
with a flexi between the manifold exit and first silencer box, do you think this will suffice? cracking wise!

yeah i dont see why not, once i got the flexi for the ashley it was fine for months till I took the engine out, apart from the tunnel rubbage
