Anyone have any ideas

i like the alcantara black material personally, you can get a pro to do it or attempt it yourself, usually you can apply the new fabric with spray glue depending on the type of door card.
as for where to guy the fabric maybe ebay?
something like this for the better quality

or for the cheaper vertion

Alcantara is usually nicer and you can probably go to a fabric store to get something simular.

mk2 golf? worst door cards to trim in my opinion! I can sell you what ever materials you want to have a go yourself if you like.
few things, depending on how you're planning on doing this. you'll probably want a material with a decent amount of stretch in it. If you're trying to do it in one piece then it'll have to be very stretchy. if you do it in sections then to make it look any good you'll need a sewing machine. also the glue you need is a high temperature contact adhesive.
let me know if you want anything...

What are mk3 door cards like to trim. Is the fabric stitched through the the actual card or just glued on? Especially at the edge of the trimmed section.
