Title: whining sound?

got a slight problem on my mk2 gti. When i turn the heater fan on theres a whining sound, 1st setting it's fairly slow, almost ticking sound, 2nd it's constant whining just faster but then 3rd it goes away  :huh: any ideas?

Is your girlfriend/wife in the seat next to you when this happens?

Does it come and go with hard acceleration, braking and enthusiastic driving?

I have an idea of where the noise comes from.....

(it's probably the bushings on the motor getting old and knackered though).
