hey all,
right ive got a golf mk2 1.8 8v gti engine im doind a total rebuild! new every thing bigger pistons the works! we have worked out that she will be about a 2.2 liter when we have finished! any one got any ideas what injectors i should use? and whats the k-jet system all about? cheers

what injection system are you running it on, I assume digifant due to your k-jet question?
k-jet is the older mechanical fuel injection system fitted to pre-88 cars.

With all due respect, I think if you're spending as much as you're looking at, you could do a lot better than nailing K-jet (which is an antiquated injection system) on what sounds a very expensive engine.

yeah shes costing a little :P was thinking of using the vr6 injectors but does any one know if the will work ok? or is there a better fuel system i could go for? cheers

megasquirt would be the most flexible option, digi and k-jet dont really cope well with mega mods! good news is that injectors for the digi head are common, so there is no trouble sourcing what you need. however you need to figure out what flow rate you're after really, I think G60 ones would probably be close to what you want? Vauxhaul blues offer a nice bump up from the factory MK2 digi flow rate, but again its a case of finding out what flow rate you want, then you can look up what cars have what you need! Heres a quick list I've made up of common ones I have come across:
Alfa 1.7-3.0, Fiat, Ford 2.0, Nissan - 189.2cc/min, Bosch 0 280 150 702
Volkswagen MK2 digifant = 191.8cc/min, Bosch 0 280 150 757, VW 037 906 031A
Volkswagen MK2 digifant = 197cc/min, Bosch 0 280 150 903
Saab white = 213.9cc/min, Bosch 0 280 150 712
Vauxhall 20XE cream = 214cc/min, Bosch 0 280 150 744

so now ive worked things out right lol will the g60 injectors give me the power i need of is it best to look for something better?

I would say they might be a bit much, G60 is what 160bhp? cant see you getting close to that on yours, but then again if you go megasquirt you should be able to dial em back to suit I guess.
not that I'm the world authority on either injectors or megasquirt mind :grin:
I would say the vaux cremes would be ok good enough, I had a set o these on my MK2 with 2.0 8v, chip, cam etc on std digifant managment and it went very nicely :)
I had the std fpr (2bar?) on there you could up it to a 2.5/3bar one which will help up the fuel delivery potential if what you get isn't quite enough.
The main reason I'd steer clear of the G60s is they tend to go for silly money, (ebay RARE) whereas the vaux ones you'll prob be able to pick up cheapy as they pretty widely available. Theres also the vaux blues which are half way between the vaux creame & g60 ones?
