Post by: antgti on 25 June 2004, 12:11
Hi all

Do the Milltek exhausts sound good on the 1.8t's, eg are they loud, sporty etc, or do they rumble nicely like an RS turbo,,,,,,,, Also do they improve performance,

Cheers

welll, ummmh, i have'nt got a golf anymore, company car went back and i had to buy my own car.

Long story short was gonna buy a Leon Cupra R and went along to the dealerhip to have a look, i prefer my cars small, eg fiesta sized.  So the dealer asked if i had seen the Ibiza FR, i took one out and now i have one, got it 2 weeks ago, anyway, it has the same 150bhp 1.8 Turbo lump as you guys, so i've already bought a Bailey DV30for it, Going for an APR remap which will according to their figures put it to 215Bhp, and Miltek are having the car off of me in July to develope an exhaust for the FR and the New Ibiza Cupra. So thats why i wanna know whether they sound good, I've also gottasort out an induction kit.

So back to that sound, is it a purposeful rumble that lets everyone know the car means business or a raspy growl, what car would you liken the sound to???

It's not raspy, so don't worry you won't be mistaken for a nova driver.
At idle it rumbles/purrs nicely, put your foot down and it has a nice deep tone while accelrating, which dies down when you let off the gas and keep constant speed. I do both motorway and around town driving and its very comfortable, not deafening at 80mph on the M42, and not peashooter-esque on the suburbs. Hope this helps !

Chris.

The Milltek does sound very nice around the town and you do get a bit of extra power but I have to disagree with Tophuh (moderator) with all due respect,
I've got one on my golf 1.8t from the cat back and when I'm on the motorway doing 80mph-100mph it does have quite a loud low note which can get a bit anoying after a while, and it has been fitted properly befor you ask

Hmm interesting, although there is more than one type of CAT, don't suppose you know if yours is a 300/200/150 cell ?
