Just out of interest what is the most you can get? I found this
http://pistonheads.com/sales/708254.htm (http://pistonheads.com/sales/708254.htm)
anyone heard of more than 355bhp? i know there is a 900bhp one that ive seen on youtube.
-
jbs's octavia 1.8T on nitrous was hitting 600+ although i think that was overbored to 1.9
the 900bhp dahlback golf isn't a 1.8T though.. it's based around a 5cyl audi quattro motor
-
http://www.prospeed.bg/galery.php?g=10
This is the most powerful 1.8T in Bulgaria ;)
-
I have seen a 3000bhp mk4 golf 1.4 :lipsrsealed:

who the hell would want 355bhp in a fwd golf gti or any fwd car for that matter!!!, wheel spinning everywhere and trying to steer and put that sort of power down at the same time mmmmmmm dont think so!! the most id want is 250bhp-275bhp absolute max.......that'll make a superb drivers car with sorted suspension and brakes will make a cracking all rounder
-
^ Totally agree
-
I think I would have to agree as well. I learnt a while back that anything more than about 250bhp from a FWD car is asking for trouble.
-
250 max and then you want an ATB diff really!

That is deffo on my shopping list! :smug:
(One day)
-
300hp would be enough for me in the golf considering its lardy, my bro had a 250bhp td05 starlet turbo, considering it weighs in under 1100kg it was way too much power, talk about torque steer

You would love an ATB diff, you ever do any track days?
-
Yes, that's why I want one!!
-
i had a 250bhp ish rs turbo conversion mk2 xr2 back in 1990 (one of the 1st to do it) and that was mad i could go round a roundabout then come of my junction without turning the steering wheel by just nailing it lol..........also 145mph in a mk2 fiesta isnt recommended(on a track!)...the sound of the T34 tho was amazing tho!...............im happy with my RTECH map for now then a milltek sports-cat n sytem,007p,TIP,in my AUM will be more than enuff...

what circits do you go to?
-
the M**..........CIRCUIT  havent u heard of it
-
the M**..........CIRCUIT
 M** you should go on a track day, brands is good, snett also, donington aswell. safest i would say is snett, massive run offs so even if you push to hard its quite safe. castlecoombe can be doogy.
mate of mine had a 1.8T in a MK1 weighing 900Kilo's 310BHP ATB diff, full cage the works, nuty car span the wheels in top. wasnt nice to drive, but was funny watching it burn past 100K cars lol

Reminds me of my super car driving day last March. Lambo's and Ferrari's everywhere. I went out in the Lotus, and overtook them all, it was brilliant! I love little pocket rockets
-
did a few track days best was coombe in the mitsi evo5 .........the fiesta was fun i was 18 and young and foolish........nothing like when i was a 20 yr old in my 450bhp 4x4 sapphire cosworth annilalating 100k porsches and ferraris! but was sooooooooooo funny tho!!

A car which needs rebuilding and breaks down loads, looks awful and has a shoddy interior but goes faster than a ferrari
or
a ferrari
I know which i would rather own (money no object of course)
Lewis hamilton could beat a ferrari in a 1.2 corsa if the ferrari driver was not very good!
-
Oulton Park =
Cracking course - Would go every week if I could.

I'm fairly close too which is a bonus. Loved watching the VW cup there last year. Hope to go again

what r u refering to the cosworth?? the saph was only 5years old when i bought it so wudnt say shoddy interior had totally mint black full recaro leather and wasnt always breaking down (if tuned/built correctly) and at 20 it was spot on lol........... i had abit of trouble with it as i tuned it until i got the £££ out and did it properly (MAD DEVELOPEMENTS rebuild)........im talking a good 12-13 years ago now there were virtually no japanese cars on the roads and the 'import craze' hadnt been thought off so cossies were the cars to have and big power ones gained massive respect in the day!! even to this day u cant beat the rear end squat of a well launched saph 2wd/4x4!
........ im not on here boasting or saying the cossie was better than a ferrari/porsche just it destroyed it in all areas when i came up against one that was up for a bit of fun!!!

Direct prices for dates so far >>> http://www.donington-park.co.uk/track-days/track-zone-cars
I'd also try & look out (google) for companies which offer discounts etc. Also, look for 'open pitlane' formats, where you can go on as often as you like, as opposed to 'sessioned' track days which are typically 1 x 20 min sessions per hour. :afro:

Ill come with you scott but you will need to get your nitrous fitted if its gonna be worth me breaking the beast out
-
TBH i wouldnt mind having over 300bhp under me right foot in a FWD car. My Calibra was brilliant as it had equal length drive shafts, good rubber and stiff suspension so the wheel spin was minimum. I just like to see the picture on rich kids faces who drive scoobies n evo's when a FWD beast comes screaming past them.

thanks mate yep was truely awesome basically built as a low comp RS500 spec as that was the best method back then to get big horsepower was running 8 injectors and a massive n very laggy T4 turbo with about 28-30psi boost had it at 181mph!a few times(private road) did 6mpg tho at full boost lol
-
6mpg
Sounds worth it though!

yep went like a bat outta hell and the grip was amazing to!! was great doing full bore launches with my 2 stage boost controller limiting boost in 1/2 then building up it up lol..........was funny as when i got the car it had a stg1 'chip' running bout 270bhp i put a full scorpion exhaust and a mahoooosive k+n induction kit then drove it for 1yr,1 morning said to my mum cant believe how reliable its been (as they were notorious for blowing headgaskets and gearboxes/clutches/diffs etc on the 4x4's if ragged etc) the next day car wouldnt start tried every sensor etc still no luck took it to 2 local 'specialists' loom had packet up so got new loom had that fitted still wudnt run right so trailered it to devon to my tuner who did diagnostics and pulled all the loom out again and checked it refitted all was spot on but was running standard, left devon £1200 later :embarassed:....4 miles from home at 1am driving thru a forrest hit a deer did minor damage but straight into bodyshop for a £1000 repair, then week later engine seized got quotes for second hand engine £1500ish rebuilt to standard spec £2500 ish or the tuner (M.A.D)joked £8000 and ull have 425bhp i just said sod it and went for it.......then did everything else over 2 years uprated gearbox/diffs/ap racing 330mm 4pots/compotive alloys/bodywork etc spent close £20k modding it in 3 years lol.............they were the good ol cossie days

Im paying not far off that for my MK5 (Im 21)
-
ive never paid loads for insurance helps that the car was garaged/limited mileage/good alarm (compulsory),low crime rate area(A rating-bournemouth)and 3yrs no claims! even tho direct line wanted £7k lol

There really hard to insure. Its not just the insurance groups but the amount of claims. So many young people buy them and crash them it was really expensive! I never bought it for its straight line performance, it was fantastically fun on back roads and i doubt i will own a car as fun again (i had no fear of crashing or ditching it as it was so cheap to get parts so pushed it really hard!)
Couldnt pull the skin of a rice pudding the vtr, but would love a track prepped vts one day
