Title: Mk3 Golf 16v GTI not starting

Hello,

My friend has a bit of a problem with his MK3.

He drove over to my house okay earlier and his car started fine apart from 1 stutter, but it drove ok.

Now it won't start at all. It turns over ok, oil level is fine, however it has thrown up 2 fault codes.

First one is about a knock sensor on cylinder 1, and the other is "Cylinder 1 CKP Sensor".

Any ideas?

had that fail.

rev counter bounce all over place,  no power then stop.     insulation on the wire coming out the sensor itself  had fallen apart, common fail  b!tch to change for what it is
