Title: Faulty Lambda
Post by: Ultma on 25 January 2009, 11:43
i have had this fault code

DTC          P-code               Description

16518       P0134             O2 Sensor Cir.,Bank 1-Sensor 1 No Activity Detected

So from the little i know, bank 1 is drivers side and sensor 1 is before cat.

the question is would this faulty O2 cause a strong petrol smell from the car, not under the bonnet just from the back and can some times be smelt in the car, droping from 150 miles from a £20 worth of fuel to barely 100 miles, and sometimes lack of power when accelerating?

A friend has a V5 2.3 mark 4 golf and gets 250 miles off £25 worth of fuel. i would barely get 150 from that now.

so is this F**KING sensor the cause of my problems? as i dont see it could be anything else as it has had an MOT and full service a month ago.

HELP!!!!

Yes it is.

My o2 sensor went on the MK4 and caused a strong petrol smell when sitting at traffic lights and caused my MPG to drop to about 19mpg. This is due to the sensor going up the creak making the petrol to run faaar to rich causing the smell and poor MPG.

Get it replaced. Sorted.

I bet your mate doesnt get 250 miles from £25 quid. My GF's 1.2 Fiesta just about does that.

the front one on my mates just needed  the electrical plug cleaning out as it's prone to getting water in the plug have a quick check first thats the cheapest option
