It called this kestral sim180, i read on detail forums and they seem to be ok (for the price!) and I will nosy on detailingworld or whatever the forums called.. What I need is advice on products I need!! It has 3 different pads (180mm if that makes a difference?) but i guess i need some liquid stuff?
I currently have
megs gold wash
meg's clay bar
meg's stage 1 & 2 paint cleaner & polish
autoglym polish (the one for dark cars)
and some meg's gold class wax
so what am i missing to give it some really good results!! and can i use some of the polishes i already have?
oh yeah i have chucked my sponge and silicon dryer thing away (should keep you clean people happy :undecided:)
-
good stuff
menzerna polishes - get a sample set from somewhere like elite
ps. will reply to pm later
-
Second menzerna, the megs #80 and #83 are very good but i doubt its use on VW paint will be great!
-
Megs 80 and 83 are fine on VAG paint and will be far easier to work with this time of year (unless you're in a heated garage)
-
From doing a few cars menzerna is very easy to use on most paints, and requires much less work to break down. Also gives a much better result. I do like the megs #80 and #83 but i find my fav pad/polish combo usually has menz in it!
I used menzerna on a porsche and bmw (and 99 reg polo) with awesome results.
It did this

Right I best have a look at some of that meg's stuff.......Hopefully my knackered 18 year old paint will look that bit better soon?? (oh and I'm going to look at some video on that detailed forum about using it this weekend!)
Expect some photos tears soon!!
and conker that link certainly helped......I only paid £50 for it with 3 pads!! (bargain looking at that?)
-
I just bought the Kestrel DA one. The only negative i've heard is the lead isn't long enough but a thread on DW shows you how to extendit for about £3.
-
am i right in thinking that the one you have got boney isn't a DA one?
-
Think it's the rotatry which is slightly cheaper

review for sim180 http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=91227 (http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=91227)

The Menzerna RDS85 3.02 followed by final finish is my first choice BUT it can very very twitchy to temperature and humidity - so it'll be a dream on a warm sunny day, but can be a complete b!tch in the middle of winter! with the right technique, there is really nothing between menzerna and meg's pro range, though the 3.02 is absolutely ideal for most vag paints
-
i'd guess most enthusiasts will be doing the polishing and cutting in warmer weather
-
Has any body ever used this place...I found it looking for menzerna products! they seem to offer a good range and there cheap http://www.autoperfectionworld.co.uk/catalog/ (http://www.autoperfectionworld.co.uk/catalog/)
The have a 100ml sample of RDS85 3.02 for £2.97 ( i usually buy from a place called three60 but they dont do that brand......)
-
well I've bought the following today.....
25mm x 50m 3M 3434 High Perform Masking Tape
Menzerna Intensive Polish PO85RD-3.02 100ml
Menzerna Final Finsh PO85RD 100ml
Menzerna Final Finish PO106FA 100ml
and 3 different pads....
oh and i have some collinite from last year (716 i think?)
and I've watched loads of video's....just need warmer weather and off i go!!
-
after the 3.02 you can go straight to the 106FA - just remember to work the polishes fully. have fun!
-
Any links to the videos? Depending on weather, my car will be detailed next weekend, with a machine polish too.
