Title: Alarm going off due to Boot.
Post by: VW_UK on 22 January 2009, 10:00
My car had a little knock from the rear which dented the boot lid. The alarm on the car now irregularly sounds, usually at early hours of the morning!! :(

I assume there is some sort of sensor in the boot which is part of the whole alarm system. Is there anyway I can disable that? I will eventually have to replace it when having the repair done so would also be useful to know what part needs replacing. What does it look like? Part number? Name?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

There will be a sensor on the boot lid mate that triggers when the boot is open think it will be in the lock mechanism not sure though some have a tiny pin that pushes in when you close the boot.

Is there a way of turning the alarm off until I get it fixed?

i think you can unplug the sensor to stop it going off but that obviously negates the point of the alarm

a quick fix could be to try and dry it out - the rear cover is held on by clips and 2 screws
