can anyone help me please..
my drivers door handle is not functioning at all and cannot open the drivers door from the outside, nothing seems to have 'broken' though the handle lever is not very positive at all, have lubricated both handle and latch,
also rear door does not open either! i replaced the handle last year with a GSF one , it worked for a while but does not open door at all now
its great fun getting in my car at mo!
is this a common problem on mk2's??

Mine's just done this. Do you know how to take the handle off?? I took my handle off, and inside part of the mech had just cracked, so got a new one from the scrappy, just gotta fit it, but got a bigger problem right now.....cambelt

I take it you can open it from the inside then?....if so then it could be the handle that is broken, the internal latch bit inside the handle is quite brittle and I've had two break on me.
Sometimes the latch on the door sort of siezes and you have to open and close it a few times using a screw driver as a door pin and lots of wd40 to help loosen it. I had it happen too from having the car standing for 6months. it opened just about but then wouldnt latch closed properly.
Aftermarket handles dont ever work or fit as well as the real thing...funny enough that's happened to me too

handle cvomes off easy, screw in the end o the door, and another behind the metal/plastic handle trim. Takje it off and smear everything you find in there lever wise with grease :)

yes i can get in from the inside, i will remove handles at w/end and grease them up, dont really want to replace drivers handle as i still have both original vw keys and new handle = new lock/key...., bit pissed my 'new' rear handle is playing up after only a few months...wont bother with ebay for handles again!

if greasing doesnt help find a replacement from another VAG model and swpa the lock over, Polo MK3 is newest model I know of with MK2 type handles :)

thanks mate , what years does the mk3 polo run from, not up on my polo's i'm afraid! :embarassed:

its the springs on the inside of the handle 1 is for the catch release mecanisam which rust and seize (new handle) but you can keep your old locks. The other is for the lock istself it slips sometimes so the lock does'nt twist and spring back...fix it or get another 1 its easy...
