Title: Is this crash damage repairable?
Post by: Mikester on 20 January 2009, 14:22
The part of the car that comes out for the bumpers to hook onto, each side beneath the wings. A van planted it self into the wing, at only about 10mph and has bent the wing in, and bent this part of metal, maybe chassis, not sure. Either way it would be impossible to bend back exactly to slide the bumper back on that side. But either way i put a new wing on and have been driving it for around a year with the bumper held on, be it not propperly (it passed an mot like this last year)

Now im up for selling the car so im thinkin i might get it sorted properly before i sell, and sprayed up as the rest of the car is spot on, and if it was fixable i might end up keeping it.

The reason im selling isnt the damage as its done 15k miles since the damage was done. Just want it too look nice before i flog it on.

Anyone know what should could be done, or not?

If pics are required i will stick some up.

Cheers

Mike, bend the bracket out best you can, maybe tap it lightly with a hammer and piece of wood. Then get the bumper sprayed up properly along with the wing, or just buy other ones in the right colour and hey presto!

As long as the bracket is in roughly the right place im sure the bumper could be fixed on :) If not, just re-adjust it slightly till it does.

You shouldnt have a problem selling it as its such a sweet car

P.s. give me a ring if your out at the weekend

Yeah mate, im thinkin i will get some new bumpers smoothed, sprayed and the wing and door sprayed up. Then service it up, give it 12months mot and 6 months tax and sell up. Bit expensive but that way i know it will go to a loving home. As it has no rust under it etc, and runs so sweet its worth someone having.

I should be about this weekend, maybe not friday as i have to work late friday, stock take you see. Bit gheyyyy
