I currently have a tired 'AUG' gearbox on my 8v digi.
I've been told the only compatible codes are the aug one 9a, or acd.
The aug has a longer 2nd gear (i think!?)
Which ones would you guys go for?
Edit: Argh confused, any reason i cant have DGF(91-93), DGT (91-93) or AEN(85-89) gearboxes codes?

I have had a couple of 8v's and the gearboxes were more than adequate for the car, although 5th gear was a bit of a screamer gear. So I changed the 5th gear for that from a CL 4E box. This decreased the revs from 4000 @ 75mph, down to 3200. So I still had GTI performance, but a nice cruising 5th.
A friend of mine had the same car, but changed the gearbox for that fitted to the older Seat Toledo. Made the car too docile and it lost its GTI zing.

I have ACD (AUG before)
Here is AUG http://akcrankshaft.com/forum/attachment.php?aid=1638 (http://akcrankshaft.com/forum/attachment.php?aid=1638)
Here is ACD http://akcrankshaft.com/forum/attachment.php?aid=1639 (http://akcrankshaft.com/forum/attachment.php?aid=1639)
At ACD 2 gear is shorter and 4 is longer. I m satisfied

How hard is this to do? Sounds like the perfect setup really....

There is no manual on how to do it, but there is some info on the internet somewhere. I did it by working it out myself, but then I am an engineer anyway. If you are not confident, don't do it. But TBH, it's not that difficult. Took me three hours.
